Intensive Treatment for Posttraumatic Syndromes at TRI
This is a program of specialized intensive outpatient treatment for trauma-related conditions. For post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) we schedule five to six hours daily for five days. For dissociative disorders we schedule a two-week module (five days each week).

We use hypnosis or cognitive processing of traumatic memories to avoid reliving the experiences. Our procedures include the verbal narrative, video reviews, art therapy for graphic narrative processing, and video dialogue for reintegration of traumatic dissociation.

For information on accomodations in the Morgantown area please call TRI at 304.291.2912

Retreat at Romney B&B Program
This program is offered at the TRI's satellite clinic of TRI in Romney, West Virginia. The program combines treatment with a relaxing sanctuary experience in Hampshire House, a 19th Century historic building (http://romneywv.com/hampshirehouse). The comfort of Hampshire House enhances treatment for busy professionals or therapists worn out by compassion fatigue. The accommodations and one-to-one treatment provide privacy and anonymity.

  • Procedures: evaluation, hypnotic narrative processing, instinctual trauma response processing, art therapy, and video dialogue.
  • Duration: One or two weeks (two weeks suggested).

Children's program
Trauma Recovery Institute Intensive Program For Children.
The Trauma Recovery Institute (TRI) offers an intensive outpatient program for children. This program is designed to alleviate the severe symptoms associated with physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. Such maltreatment often gives rise to suicidal thoughts, depression, withdrawal, angry outburst, hallucinations, nightmares, abuse of other children and/or animals, and sexual acting out. Our program examines the root cause of these symptoms that behavioral programs often ignore. When the actual traumas that gave rise to these symptoms are processed, a child experiences psychological relief and closure.

Our child team is made up of counselors, social workers and art therapists, all of whom use our methods when working with traumatized children and their families.

The program involves 2 or 3 days a week with morning and afternoon sessions. The number of days is tailored to the individual child, with most intensive programs ranging from 6 to 20 days.
